In 2014, the state of Hesse initiated the „WIR“ programme. In order to promote integration in the Main Taunus district in particular, it has a WIR-coordinator specifically responsible for this.

The Hessian programme WIR stands for „Wegweisende Integration Realisieren“(realize groundbreaking integration) and has been created In order to promote integration in the Main Taunus district in particular. Existing structures in several areas will continue to be developed, in order to connect society that is becoming more and more multicultural and also to facilitate improved integration.

The first step to this was the opening of an „integration office“ in the office of public safety and order in the administrative district office. All kinds of migration service providers in the Main Taunus district (for instance Caritas) can offer open consultation-hours. Migrants and refugees can, for example, find out, how and by which organisation they can be supported in their integration efforts. Besides, in this way everyone concerned with integration positions and organisations should be linked up better.

In addition, the WIR-coordinator offers further education. She trains district administration employees in „intercultural know-how“ amongst other things– also interaction with people from other cultures.

Furthermore, there are additional offers for German courses available for single mothers with a foreign background and integration offers in sport.
